Thanks for the tip on activecollab, I've notice some difficulty using basecamp as well, but chalked it up to just using the trial version (just for my thesis). I am, thanks to Niti's visit, in the process of starting up a project management system for our design dept. Any suggestions on a format? i would like it to be open but managable, we don't want to deal with to much crap. Ideally it would just put the students in touch with more people working on or interested in similar things, not to mention using it as a pseudo-homepage to refer people to. possibly it could act as some sort of archive.

i'm new to it all
cheers

Jaime,

Yeah its an almost-there collection of products they offer. But almost-there simply isn't enough to justify the grand strutting and posing 37 sigs wallows in.

Tas,

No sir you are not alone. I am weening off of basecamp and moving to wordpress. ActivCollab is good, but I know how to hack WordPress to better customize it per client/project so I'll probably stick with project blogging rather than project management software.

Here's hoping you find your way out soon.

Geez, I thought I was the only naysayer out there. Can't agree more. We've tried and tried but Basecamp is anti-intuitive and crap is several ways. Nobody in my office can find their way around it. I'm still trapped in some basecamp-based projects and I still get lost in there after about a year. Great idea, fun blog, good people but dismal execution.

Active Collab is the shit... Fried is still a cool dude, but less talk more walk would turn the campfire into a forest fire. By the looks of it Ilija may be well on his way to setting the woods on fire!
